Passionate Tango Aficionado

I am Joao Crus, a dedicated tango enthusiast who believes in the transformative power of this captivating dance form. As an aficionado in the universal language of tango, I believe tango can unite individuals through the enchanting melodies and intricate movements of this art form. I am a fervent advocate for the idea that tango transcends boundaries and connects souls in a way that words often cannot.

In pursuit of this vision, I am thrilled to announce the 2nd edition  of Austin Tango Marathon , a  spectacular annual tango event in Austin that will celebrate the beauty, passion, and inclusivity of tango. This event will serve as a vibrant melting pot where dancers, enthusiasts, and curious minds can come together to share their love for this timeless dance.

I’m excited to apply what I have developed over the last two decades in my professional life as a black belt and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor organizing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events. During this time, I have been able to understand  the necessary skills  at organizing tournament events with a high degree of precision that showcase the artistry and athleticism of jiu-jitsu practitioners from all walks of life.

Volunteer Coordinator

Relatively new to tango, Monica Rivera is committed to helping the Austin tango community grow and make it stand out for its level of dancing. Monica has made more friends in tango in the last two years than in any other field in the 25 years she’s lived in Austin.

Her dedication, attention to detail, love for tango, and interest in people of all walks of life make her a key element in the organization of the volunteer program for this marathon.

Rest assured that she will make you feel at home whether you are traveling to Austin for the first time or are a regular visitor to the local tango scene. She can be reached at monicariveratango@gmail.com, should you be interested in joining us as a volunteer. We would greatly appreciate your support.
